What do a couple of art thieves, a murderous entity, and a vegan werewolf have in common? They all come from the twisted mind of novelist Tyler Patrick. ODDITIES OF HAVEN HOLLOW is a small collection of flash fiction stories that explores the theme of dark humor. If you laugh at the absurd and irreverent, this collection will tickle your funny bone.
Extended Description
ODDITIES OF HAVEN HOLLOW contains three pieces:
“The Heist” is the story of Bobby and Joey, two art thieves in Haven Hollow, on their last heist. Taking place on St Patrick’s Day, Bobby and Joey attempt to steal a number of priceless works from the local museum. This noir inspired story is loosely based on the ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER heist from 1990.
“What Plays at Night” is an intense game of cat and mouse between our protagonist and a ferocious creature that lurks in the dark. After their family is killed, the protagonist tries to survive the night alone in the midst of the beast’s forest hunting grounds. Will they make it out alive or will they be the next victim of this seemingly unstoppable killing machine?
“Salad, Please” is the lighthearted tale of Theo, a teenage vegan werewolf, and his carnivorous father, Gary. Theo is shy and considerate while Gary is as animalistic as possible. Be a fly on the wall at the Haven Hollow diner for a confrontation between the two widely different personalities. Can Gary accept his son’s choices? Can Theo look past his father’s gruff exterior to see the warm heart underneath? Probably not, but it is worth a try.
